Afra’s passion for conveyancing has led her to study further and qualify as a Licensed Conveyancer. Afra deals with a variety of areas in conveyancing, she is always exploring ways to develop and thrive.
Afra works at our Bradford Office and reports into Amanda Ambler.

Alex is a Private Client Solicitor at our Guiseley and Bradford offices. Having qualified in 2016 Alex became partner at Whitaker Firth LLP, which merged with Chadwick Lawrence in summer 2019.
Alex advises on Wills and estate planning, Probate, Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection applications and has a particular interest in helping the elderly client. In 2019 Alex completed the exams to become a fully accredited member of ‘Solicitors for the Elderly’, an organisation dedicated to providing quality legal services to older and vulnerable people.

Amanda joined Chadwick Lawrence in December 2020 and comes into the business with over 16 years’ experience in Residential Conveyancing.
Amanda acts for our Premier Service Clients alongside handling Conveyancing business development and looking at the operational side of the department in terms of systems and processes.
Amanda is able to handle all work types and is supervised by the Partner in Charge of the Department Sarah Haller.

Aminder graduated from the University of Leeds in 2005 where she undertook her degree in Law. Prior to this she graduated from the University of Huddersfield, studying for a BSc (Hons) in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Having joined Chadwick Lawrence in 2012 Aminder has gained experience in both Personal Injury and Domestic Conveyancing. She qualified as a Solicitor in 2014 and is delighted to be a member of the Conveyancing Team dealing with all aspects of conveyancing and shared ownership.
Aminder is a Solicitor, qualified in 2014. She works at the Firm’s Leeds office. She is an Associate in the business handling all work types. She is supervised by her Team Leader, Susan McKee.

Angela has a wealth of experience in all areas of family law including divorce, financial settlements, arrangements for children and cohabitee disputes. In respect of the financial aspects of separation, Angela deals with a wide variety of matters from those with limited assets to other complex and high value cases.
Angela is a member of Resolution and adopts their conciliatory approach which she believes works towards a more productive outcome for people experiencing a relationship breakdown, particularly where children are involved. However, where this approach is not possible, Angela does not shy away from the more robust settlement of matters. Her strength lies in her down to earth approach to matters which helps to put clients at ease at what is often a difficult times in their lives.

Asma is a Partner at Chadwick Lawrence LLP and heads the Corporate Recovery and Insolvency Department. Asma qualified in 1999 and has extensive experience in Insolvency having spent 7 years at a Commercial Law firm in Leeds before joining Chadwick Lawrence LLP as a Partner in 2008.
Asma’s main areas of practice include advising business, Directors and Insolvency Practitioners in Corporate pre-insolvency and insolvency situations. Areas of expertise include the corporate restructuring of companies with a view to rescuing the business where commercially viable. Expertise in post insolvency situations include defending directors in antecedent transaction actions brought by Insolvency Practitioners including transactions at undervalue, preference claims, extortionate credit transactions, transactions defrauding creditors, wrongful and fraudulent trading and misfeasance claims. Asma also acts in Company Directors Disqualification Act 1986 claims.
Asma advises individuals and insolvency practitioners in personal insolvency matters and acts for foreign creditors in recovering substantial sums due from debtors based in the United Kingdom.
Asma is chair of the R3 Yorkshire Women in Business Recovery Group and a member of the R3 Regional Committee.

Barry graduated with a law degree (LLB) in 1977 and qualified as a solicitor in 1981. He joined CL in 2005 as an Associate and became a partner in 2009.
Barry specialises in commercial property law, working for some big clients in the Yorkshire region, in varying industries from logistics to marketing; education to building products.
Barry advises on all aspects of commercial property law, which included the renewal of leases, development and acquisition of new facilities and property elements of commercial sale agreements.

Beverley is based at the Wakefield Office, dealing with all aspects of domestic conveyancing.
She has worked in domestic conveyancing since 1985, initially as a legal assistant in Leeds City Centre and Dorset, before moving back to the area and working again in Leeds City Centre as a fee earner since 1998 and in Wakefield since 2013.
Beverley has no formal qualifications but has worked in conveyancing for over 33 years, 20 of which as a conveyancer and deals with every type of transaction. She is supervised by her Team Leader Natalie Glover.

Bhavna studied Law at the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne and completed the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law, York. She has worked for Chadwick Lawrence since February 2013 and is based in the Morley office dealing with all varying aspects of Residential Property Law.
Bhavna is a Partner and Solicitor, qualifying in 2004. She specialises in all aspects of conveyancing, managing our Morley office and a team of 8. She is supervised by the Partner in Charge, Sarah Haller.

Head of the Family Department, Catherine completed a law degree at the University of Birmingham and qualified as a Solicitor in 1986. Having joined Chadwick Lawrence in 1993 as a specialist family lawyer, Catherine became a Partner with the firm in 1996.
Catherine has a wealth of experience in all aspects of family law and is regarded as one of the most effective Yorkshire practitioners in the area of high net worth financial settlements following divorce or separation.
With many years experience as a family mediator and collaborative lawyer, Catherine is an accredited Resolution specialist in financial provision within divorce, children matters and a member of the Law Society Family Panel.
As past President of the local Law Society, a recent career highlight for Catherine was attending the Royal Garden Party as a representative of the Law Society.

Being kept busy – the days fly by in HR! Charlotte has regular contact with staff across all departments which has broadened her exposure to areas of the business that she wouldn’t have otherwise had contact with. As Charlotte is beginning her career in HR, she is learning something new every day.

Dan qualified as a Solicitor in 2005 and is a Partner in the Dispute Resolution Team. He joined Chadwick Lawrence following the merger with Godloves Solicitors in April 2012 where he headed the Commercial Litigation Unit.
Dan specialises in a broad range of company and commercial dispute resolution matters. His caseload is varied, but he has advised in disputes concerning commercial contracts, shareholder issues, partnership disputes and professional negligence matters. He has a growing caseload of clients seeking advice in relation to Base Rate Swap Agreements or Interest Rate Hedging Products.
Dan is a former President of the Halifax Incorporated Law Society and continues his involvement with the Society as a Governor and as a committee member.

Daniel is a Partner and solicitor specialising in employment law at Chadwick Lawrence solicitors, having trained with the Firm since 2006. Daniel studied the LLB law course part-time, achieving a first-class honours degree. Subsequently, Daniel achieved a distinction on completing the Legal Practice Course, again on a part-time basis.
Daniel has a particular focus on advising businesses and sports organisations under the ESP retainer scheme, and he manages a number of key commercial relationships within the Firm. Daniel is also responsible for the management and development of the employment team and, more widely, the commercial department.
Daniel is also heavily involved in the development of training programmes delivered across the region, and prepares regular commentary in the local media on topical employment law matters.

Ellie is a Trainee Solicitor at Chadwick Lawrence, currently specialising in Wills, Powers of Attorney and Probate. Ellie was delighted to join the firm in May 2019 as a Paralegal; having already gained prior experience working in Private Client. Ellie started her Training Contract with the firm in April 2020 and is due to qualify as a Solicitor in October 2021. From January 2021, Ellie is assisting in the Family Department to broaden her experience in other aspects of legal practice.
Ellie first discovered her keen interest in Private Client law whilst studying at the University of Huddersfield, where she gained a first-class honours degree and was awarded with an accolade for achieving the highest marks in Land Law.
Ellie’s time at the University of Huddersfield was followed by achieving a distinction on the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law, where she also achieved a distinction in her master’s degree whilst working at a local law firm full time.
Ellie is a student member of ‘Solicitors for the Elderly’, an institution which supports those that are older and vulnerable. This institution also provides training and Ellie enjoys expanding on her knowledge through their materials. Ellie is also a committee member of the Huddersfield and Dewsbury Law Society. Emily qualified as a Legal Executive in 2001, becoming a Fellow in 2005. As such, she has a wide range of expertise in all areas of family law but has a particular focus on divorce and financial matters, cohabitee disputes and pre and post-nuptial agreements. Emily undertakes a varied caseload, representing clients in mid to high net worth cases, as well as those where the assets are more limited.
Emily also has a busy practice in private law children work representing parents in proceedings ranging from contact disputes to more difficult and complex cases where allegations of sexual, emotional and physical abuse have been made.
Emily recognises that clients are often at their most vulnerable when seeking her advice following the breakdown of a relationship and is sensitive to their needs but she also has a practical and down to earth approach and believes in providing pragmatic and realistic advice from the outset. Particularly where children are involved, Emily recognises the need to take a more conciliatory approach but can be a tenacious advocate when needed.

Howard has been working in this area since he qualified in 1984 and has helped thousands of families and individuals. He has a particular interest and expertise in assisting small family businesses when they are devastated by a sudden death.
Howard is a proud member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners- STEP, an organisation which he has been involved with since it was first formed.
He admits to being a Trekkie and has published several histories on the subject of Leeds United Football Club.

Howard qualified as a solicitor in 1984 and has worked at Chadwick Lawrence since 1988 and is a specialist in Personal Injury, Inquests and Licensing matters.
A Partner heading up the personal injury department Howard specialises in serious injury cases specifically those involving spinal injuries and brain injuries. He recently obtained an award of £6.7 million for a Claimant with tetraplegia and a brain injury. Howard is a member of APIL and the Law Society Personal Injury Panel.
Howard also specialises in handling Inquests and acts for a large organisation preparing them for and representing them at Inquests across the country in particularly complex matters where there has been a death in custody.
Howards’s Licensing Law expertise is also well renowned. He acts for businesses of all sizes but recently concluded a complex licensing application on behalf of an internationally renowned sports stadium complex.
Howard relaxes by keeping fit walking in the countryside, cycling playing racquet ball and running coupled with his infectious appetite to travel in this country and abroad when time permits. He also loves music and has a number of eclectic play lists to keep him entertained.

Jack Oldroyd

Jack is an employment litigation specialist at Chadwick Lawrence, having joined the firm in 2005. Jack commenced his legal training in 2006 as a paralegal in the firm’s Dispute Resolution Department and, at the same time, commenced an LLB Law Degree at the University of Huddersfield on a part time basis, achieving a 2:1 honours degree. He then obtained a distinction on completing the Legal Practice Course, again, on a part time basis. Jack qualified in February 2013, at which point, he started specialising in employment litigation.
Jack acts for both employers and employees on all employment related issues but predominantly in employment tribunal claims. This encompasses a wide variety of issues including complaints of unfair and constructive dismissal, all forms of discrimination and contract disputes. On the commercial side, Jack acts for a number of the firm’s high profile client’s including Kwik-Fit and Huddersfield Town. Jack also assists individuals through disciplinary and grievance processes and negotiates and advises upon Settlement Agreements.
In addition to Jack’s employment expertise, he has previously worked on a wide range of commercial disputes, including contractual litigation and professional negligence claims in the County and High Courts as well as the Court of Appeal which offers invaluable experience when advising employers and employees on issues concerning post termination restrictions.

Jacqueline has specialised solely in Claimant Clinical Negligence claims at Chadwick Lawrence since 2002 after qualifying as a solicitor following her previous career as a qualified nurse in London Hospitals.
Jacqueline was praised in Legal 500 2018 and 2019 as a ‘highly competent Associate’ and ‘key name to note’ in the ‘terrific clinical negligence practice at Chadwick Lawrence’. Over 18 years she has dealt with many types of medical negligence claims, specialising in serious and catastrophic injuries, including: adult and child brain injuries; birth injuries including hypoxic ischaemic brain injury and cerebral palsy; spinal injuries including cauda equina syndrome with permanent faecal and urinary incontinence, disability and foot drop; limb amputations; compartment syndrome; bowel injuries involving permanent stomas; bladder over distension injuries needing supra pubic catheter or ileal conduit; loss of kidney function; respiratory and cardiology damage; surgical injuries; orthopaedic injuries and delays in diagnosis and treatment of conditions including cancers.

Joanne Jones

Joanne has worked in family law exclusively since qualifying in 2006. An Associate, based at our Huddersfield office, Joanne deals with the full range of family law issues including relationship breakdowns of both married and unmarried couples and disputes in relation to children.
Joanne’s particular interest and specialism is in the financial consequences of divorce, in respect of which Joanne adopts a detailed but pragmatic approach. Her clients welcome the empathy, support and common sense approach that Joanne offers alongside high quality legal advice.
Joanne prides herself on listening carefully to what her clients actually want and will consider with her clients the most appropriate and cost-effective way of achieving their objectives, which may require robust representation in court proceedings.

Josh is a Partner at Chadwick Lawrence LLP specialising in commercial and civil dispute resolution- he is also joint Head of the Media Law team.
Josh’s practice focuses on commercial and civil dispute resolution and media law. He has vast commercial and civil litigation experience having acted in numerous types of cases often with complex expert issues in dispute. His media law practice has included acting for both companies and individuals in claims for defamation, harassment, privacy and other related actions. He is known for getting to the heart of a dispute quickly to provide effective solutions for clients.
Josh’s approach to legal practice is to avoid formal legal proceedings where possible, but if they prove necessary, to vigorously pursue them with the aim of achieving a desired settlement for clients. Whilst this isn’t always possible, he has significant experience in dealing with matters to trial including into appeal and enforcement stages. He has experience of the full range of alternative dispute resolution methods.
Josh is well known for his robust style and outcome-focused approach to litigation. The service offered to his clients is second to none and clients say this is what sets him apart from others in the legal world. Julia has over 20 years experience in private client work, having qualified as a solicitor in 1997. Julia was previously a partner at Dixon Coles & Gill Solicitors in Wakefield before joining Chadwick Lawrence in 2016.
Julia now specialises in Wills, probate and trust work. She is also skilled in dealing with Lasting Powers of Attorney and applications to the Court of Protection. She covers the Wakefield area for the department, being based at the Horbury office, but dividing her time between Horbury and the Paragon Point office in Wakefield.
An important part of Julia’s work is her practice as a Notary Public. Julia has been a qualified Notary since 2007 and she continues to build her notarial practice at Chadwick Lawrence.

She has experience in acting for both adults and children in a broad range of medical negligence claims including birth related injuries, brain injuries including cerebral palsy, spinal injuries including Cauda Equina Syndrome, orthopaedic injuries and amputations, surgical errors and failure to consent and delays in diagnosis of cancer. Lauren has significant experience in fatal claims.

Neil Wilson is the Managing Partner at Chadwick Lawrence and was awarded the prestigious Managing Partner of the Year Award at the Yorkshire Legal Awards in October 2016 and highly commended in the same category at the Modern Law Awards in 2018. Neil completed a law degree (LLB) in 1996 and qualified as a solicitor in 1998. This is Neil’s second career after leaving a previous job as a manager in a large organisation and he is now a Partner at Chadwick Lawrence.
Neil specialises in sports law and employment law, working for many of the regions top organisations and sports clubs, including Kwik Fit, Stapletons Tyre Services Limited, Leeds Rhinos and Huddersfield Town Football Club.
Neil is a regular and prominent speaker on employment law and people management matters at business events, drawing on his experience from developing Chadwick Lawrence’s employment law training material and delivering this material on behalf of the team.
Neil has been at the forefront of driving forward the culture change at Chadwick Lawrence and with input from all colleagues developing a clear vision for the practice supported by a series of core values which together are known as “The Chadwick Lawrence Way”. His presentation on this culture change journey is always very well received. In November 2017 Chadwick Lawrence were voted Employer of the Year at the Examiner Business Awards, a great accolade recognising the hard work all colleagues have put in to achieve this. Neil is keen to embrace new technology and thrives in a paperlite environment helping him to have no fixed office base and as such he works from all of our offices across West Yorkshire.

Nick also advises on intellectual property dealing with both protection and IP infringement. As part of litigation in business he also advises upon and drafts contract terms in a variety of areas.

Nils recently acted for an international sports star in relation to anti-doping matter brought by UK Anti-Doping.
Nils has a high success rate in motoring law matters and regularly acts for individuals who find themselves being prosecuted by the Police for speeding, drink driving and other various motoring law offences. Nils also advises and represents clients who wish to argue they should keep their licence because of the exceptional hardship they or their families would suffer.
Nils has a particular interest in advising sports clubs and professional sports men and women, and acts for a number of the region’s leading rugby union and rugby league clubs. In the Employment Law field Sam primarily focuses on the delivery of the firm’s employment support package, ESP. Steven advises and negotiates on corporate transactions; devising and implementing strategic corporate solutions; corporate finance and all aspects of corporate governance. Steven also devises practical solutions to commercial challenges; advising on, explaining and producing business contracts in plain English.
In the specialist areas of corporate mergers, acquisitions, restructures and corporate finance, Steven has worked with high profile clients, including Eurocopy plc, The Kerfoot Group Ltd and Calderdale MBC. Steven is also very experienced in dealing with international transactions, and has recently completed a series of deals for an American group of companies.
Steven is very active in his spare time, and when he is not supporting his local Rugby League team, Halifax RLFC, he can be found skiing or road cycling. Steven also considers himself a ‘foody’, and loves spending time cooking for family and friends.

She has a thorough knowledge of family law and a wealth of experience dealing with all aspects of divorce, separation, private law, children disputes in relation to residence, contact, prohibited steps orders and specific issue orders.
Susan is a specialist in financial matters for medium to high net worth clients, often with a business and pensions. Although the majority of Susan’s cases are in the family courts across England and Wales, she has advised clients living in jurisdictions in the UAE and US, much of Susan’s work comes through personal recommendation from previous clients and contacts.
Susan is a Specialist of Resolution and an Accredited Specialist on the Law Society Advanced Family Panel.
Susan was qualified as a Mediator in 1999 and also trained to deal with direct consultation with children. She also managed a successful family mediation service and is a past President of a local Law Society.

I am a Partner and Head of Clinical Negligence and Medical Law at Chadwick Lawrence LLP, a department that I established in 1998.
Specialising in Medical Negligence, I am a member of The Law Society’s Clinical Negligence Accreditation Scheme and an Accredited Clinical Negligence Specialist with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL). I am also a Clinical Negligence Assessor for The Law Society and an Accredited Clinical Negligence Specialist Assessor for APIL.
I lead a team of Medical Negligence lawyers who all specialise solely in Claimant Medical Negligence work and I am listed in The Legal 500 and ranked in Chambers UK 2018. I have a particular expertise in Cerebral Palsy and other birth related injury cases, and have an excellent record in high value and complex cases. I continue to act as the Court of Protection Deputy for many of the Cerebral Palsy and brain damaged clients that I have represented.

Zanna joined Chadwick Lawrence in July 2018 bringing 7 years experience of working in Residential Investment, which included acting for residential investment companies with various property portfolios and residential developers as well as distressed sales and dealing with general property management.
This included specialising in equity release, having acted for the country’s largest property investment company for 5 years.
Zanna has been a conveyancer for 8 years and is presently studying for her Council of Licensed Conveyancers qualification. She is able to handle all work types and is supervised by her Team Leader, Michelle Myers.

Zoe Allen joined Chadwick Lawrence in 2016 and is currently completing training to become a Chartered Legal Executive, following the CILEX training route to qualification whilst assisting the team with a varied case load. Zoe assists in providing advice on all aspects of Corporate Recovery, Insolvency and Insolvency Litigation. She also assists with all aspects of debt recovery, contractual disputes, intellectual property and company restoration matters.
Zoe is personable and friendly, and manages Chadwick Lawrence’s work experience / student engagement programs. Zoe frequently hosts a law clinic at the University of Huddersfield which provides clients with on-the-spot legal advice whilst providing law students with an invaluable insight into the legal profession.

Zoe graduated as a Bachelor of Laws from Sheffield Hallam University and went on to undertake the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law at York. Following her training contract, Zoe qualified as a solicitor in 2005.
Since qualification Zoe has specialised exclusively in Private Client work bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge to our team. She is currently studying for the STEP qualification and will be taking the exams to become a fully accredited member of SFE in 2019.
