Strike called off at Bradford Teaching Hospitals
The planned industrial action had been called over plans to set up a new subsidiary company to run facilities, such as cleaners and porters, and members of the Unison union were set to walk out indefinitely over the proposals, which had been described as “an attack on lower-paid workers”.
However, following further talks, the strike has been suspended.
Around 600 staff in the clinical engineering, facilities and estates services, are to be affected by the transfer.
The Trust have said the new company would “provide a secure future” for their staff and deny the accusation by Unison that the plans are “backdoor privatisation”.
The transfer of the services, originally due to go ahead on 1st October, has now been postponed until February next year, pending “further consideration”.
