Received a speeding charge late? Be quick to let us know!
You may have heard recent news stories involving celebrities being caught speeding, but lawfully evading any punishment by arguing a technicality in the law.
You must receive a ‘Notice of Intended Prosecution’ (‘NIP’) court within 14 days of the allegation of speeding.
You may have been issued with a NIP if you were caught speeding and stopped at the scene, however, if you were caught by a speed camera and didn’t receive a written NIP within 14 days of the offence date, your notice could be considered invalid. This could be the case even if it was only one day late!
If you’ve received a NIP outside the 14-day period, or if you want to know what your options are about an alleged speeding offence, give us a ring today on 01924 378079 or email nilso@chadlaw.co.uk for a quick response.
