Nurse accused of murdering eight babies ‘in year-long killing spree’ appears in court
A nurse accused of the murder of eight babies and attempting to murder ten more, has appeared in court prior to her trial.
Lucy Letby allegedly went on a year-long killing spree while working in the neonatal unit of the Countess of Chester Hospital.
As well as being charged with the murder of eight infants, three girls and five boys, all just a few days old, she is also accused of the attempted murder of five further boys and five girls, all under one year of age, in the twelve months between June 2015 and June 2016.
Ms Letby was arrested in 2018, 2019 and 2020 and has now appeared in court ahead of her trial which is due to take place next year.
She faces charges of both attempted murder and murder against one of the infant girls.
