Each colleague at Chadwick Lawrence is a valuable member of the team, which is why we’ve decided to introduce you to a different colleague each month to learn more about the great team at Chadwick Lawrence.
In this Q&A, we’re finding out more about Lauren Bullock, a solicitor in the Medical Negligence team. Discover what her role entails, what inspired her to pursue a career in Medical Negligence and her favourite part of her job…
What is your current role and how did you come about working at Chadwick Lawrence?
I am a Solicitor in the Medical Negligence Department. I am fairly new to the Chadwick Lawrence team having joined in October 2020 however, I have been working in Medical Negligence since 2013. Having trained and worked at large national law firms, I was looking to make the move to a smaller firm but wanted to find one that took on high quality cases and offered a good service to clients. I heard about the position at Chadwick Lawrence and everything just seemed to fall into place.
What inspired you to pursue a career in Medical Negligence?
When I first decided to pursue a career in Law I imagined myself as a criminal Barrister – probably because they’re the types of Lawyers you tend to see on the TV! However, during my training I spent time in the Medical Negligence team and really enjoyed the work. I felt, and continue to feel, a true sense of purpose in the work we do; people come to us when they or a loved one has experienced something traumatic and as a Medical Negligence Solicitor I can help people and make a difference to their lives.
What was the last thing you accomplished at work that you were most proud of?
I recently settled a case for a young widow and her 3 children. The case had been running for a number of years; it is difficult for families to move on after losing a loved one whilst a case is on-going. To reach a conclusion so that the family can try to move on with their lives and to know that my client and her children have a secure future gives me an incredible sense of pride. There really is nothing better than seeing a client’s relief at the end of a case.
How is Chadwick Lawrence different to other firms?
Chadwick Lawrence is an incredibly friendly firm; even though I started in the middle of a pandemic I’ve still been able to meet people and get a sense of what is important to the firm. Everyone is very approachable and there is a genuine focus on looking after its employees. There’s a feeling of everyone being in it together to achieve the best outcome for our clients.
What is your favourite part of your job?
Running a Medical Negligence case is a team effort and no two cases are the same. The type of work I do means that I have the privilege of working with so many brave and inspiring people. Hands down, the best thing about my job is working with clients and making a difference to their lives. I have met some inspirational people over the years, and I am fortunate to work closely with so many wonderful clients, clinicians and experts.
