Business tenancies, COVID-19 and forfeiture for non-payment of rent
The COVID-19 pandemic has had far reaching consequences for many.
Section 82 of the Coronavirus Act 2020 gives protection to tenants, in relevant business tenancies, from the enforcement of the right of forfeiture, during the relevant period, for non-payment of rent. On 21 June 2021 the Business Tenancies (Protection from Forfeiture: Relevant Period) (Coronavirus) (England) (No 2) Regulations 2021 were made. Those regulations extend the protection in England, to 25 March 2022.
